Indoor Climate Control Tips

• Have Maintenance performed on your air conditioning system annually.
• Clean or replace your air conditioner's filter every 30 days to trim your cooling costs and help your unit run more efficiently.
• Heat your home at 68 degrees or cooler with the thermostat fan switch on "auto." To save even more, lower your thermostat to 65 degrees or cooler at bedtime or when you're away from home.
• Install a programmable thermostat to adjust the temperature automatically and maximize your energy savings. It also helps to maintain a comfortable temperature when you wake up or return home.
• Cool your home at 78 degrees or warmer with the thermostat fan switch on "auto." For additional savings, raise your thermostat to 82 degrees or warmer when you're away from home.
• Check your duct system for leaks. If you have central air, check all the ducts and seals. If they leak, you're wasting money.
• Consider buying a new A/C system. How old is your air conditioner? The older it is, the less efficient it is. And if it's 10 years old or more, it has to work much harder to cool the same area compared to a new unit. FPL offers rebates to help you buy a more efficient air conditioning system.
